The pastry is a light shell which contains a yummy vanilla custard. Apparently they are only 220 calories. The twist is the alternative flavours, including strawberry and green tea. The franchise started in Japan and it is now found primarily in Asia, the United States and Vancouver. The first time I tried them was when I just moved to Vancouver. During Christmas, I wanted to bring them back to Toronto for my friends and family to try. It was after a snow storm and I was using public transportation. I was shopping on Robson for Christmas gifts and travelled to the Denman Beard Papa’s store to buy two dozen for my best friend’s dinner party and for my family in Toronto the next day. By the time I arrived at the store, my Uggs were soaked and may hands were full of shopping bags – on my way back to the station I slipped and fell on my butt with my cream puffs in one hand and presents in the other. It was all worth it though, because I was able to hand deliver them the next day.
